HYROX in Beugen

Context

Beugen is a small village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, set along the Maas river and surrounded by farmland, dikes and cycling paths. Its peaceful character hides a strong everyday sports culture typical of the Netherlands, where running, cycling and outdoor training are part of daily life. This makes Beugen an ideal base for athletes who want to train for demanding fitness races like HYROX while enjoying calm, open surroundings. Nearby towns such as Boxmeer and the larger city of Nijmegen provide access to parks, running routes and sports facilities, reinforcing a regional identity closely tied to movement and health. Historically, the Land van Cuijk area has always been connected by river and road to Germany and the Randstad, so residents are used to looking beyond their village for sport and competition. HYROX fits seamlessly into this mindset: structured training, clear benchmarks and the challenge of combining running with functional strength work. From Beugen, athletes can prepare on quiet country roads, forest trails and along the river, then travel easily to major cities to test themselves on the official HYROX race floor. Getting to Competitions

Beugen does not host its own official HYROX race, but it sits close to several major event cities. The nearest Dutch competitions are typically in Arnhem, Eindhoven and Maastricht, all reachable by car in about 45 to 90 minutes and by regional train connections via Boxmeer or Nijmegen. Nijmegen’s rail links make travel to HYROX races in Amsterdam or Rotterdam straightforward in roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Cross-border access is also excellent: German cities in the Ruhr area, such as Duisburg, Essen or Cologne, often feature on the HYROX calendar and lie about 1.5 to 2.5 hours away by car, slightly longer by train with one or two changes. For more distant events elsewhere in Europe, athletes can use Eindhoven or Düsseldorf airports, each around an hour’s drive, to reach major HYROX hubs by plane.
