Context

Locals are deeply engaged in outdoor pursuits such as trail running, cycling, hiking and winter sports in the nearby Andorran and Cerdanya resorts, building a strong culture of endurance and resilience. La Seu d’Urgell does not yet host an official HYROX race, but it is strategically placed between major competition hubs in Spain and France. The closest large city is Barcelona, which regularly features on the HYROX calendar and is around 180 km away; driving typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours via the C-16. Shared rides and private transfers are common options for race weekends. For international athletes, Barcelona–El Prat Airport offers direct flights from across Europe, with car rental and bus connections bringing you up to La Seu d’Urgell. Cross-border access is straightforward: Andorra lies just 20 km to the north, and from there Toulouse is around 190 km by road, opening convenient access to French airports and rail links to other HYROX host cities in France and central Europe. This combination of road, air and cross-border routes makes La Seu d’Urgell a practical training base for athletes targeting multiple HYROX events in the region.
