Contexte

Staphorst might be a small Dutch town, but its character is built on hard work, discipline and life outdoors – the perfect foundations for HYROX-style fitness. Surrounded by flat polder landscapes, forests and quiet country roads, locals are used to moving, cycling and working outside in all seasons. That everyday endurance translates naturally into the blend of running and functional strength that defines HYROX. As part of the active province of Overijssel, Staphorst sits between larger sports hubs like Zwolle and Meppel, which feed a strong regional culture of football, cycling and athletics. Major marathons, recreational rides and charity runs across the region keep people engaged with endurance sports throughout the year. Historically, Staphorst is known for its close-knit, tradition-minded community, where commitment and consistency are highly valued. Those same values are at the heart of HYROX training: showing up, putting in the work and tracking progress over time. Staphorst does not yet host its own HYROX race, but it is well placed for Dutch and cross-border competitions. The nearest major events typically take place in cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam, reachable in around 1.5 to 2 hours by car and about 2 to 2.5 hours by train with one or two changes via Zwolle. German HYROX races, for example in the Ruhr region or Hamburg area, are also realistic options. By car, many German venues can be reached in roughly 3 to 4 hours, depending on the city, via the A28 and German autobahns. From nearby airports such as Amsterdam Schiphol, Groningen Airport Eelde or Düsseldorf, athletes can also connect easily to HYROX hosts elsewhere in Europe, keeping international fitness racing within convenient reach.
