Christchurch is the closest big hub for HYROX competitions, around 165 km north by road, typically a two-hour drive or three hours by bus. From Timaru’s Richard Pearse Airport, short domestic flights connect via Wellington or Auckland to other host cities when HYROX events are scheduled there. Driving to Dunedin takes about three hours, offering another potential base for reaching future South Island races. For international HYROX events, travellers can connect from Christchurch or Auckland to Australia, with Sydney and Melbourne commonly featuring on the HYROX calendar, usually reachable in roughly three to four hours by direct flight from New Zealand’s main airports.
