Aurora is served by Denver International Airport, located about 20 miles from downtown Denver, with rental-car facilities and road connections into the city. Interstate 225 provides a major north–south road route through Aurora, while Interstate 70 connects the city with Denver and the airport area. Regional Transportation District services include buses and the R Line light rail, which runs north–south through Aurora. Aurora Metro Center Station is a major interchange between local buses and light rail. The R Line connects with stations including Dayton, Nine Mile, Iliff, and Peoria, while Peoria Station provides a connection toward Denver International Airport through the rail network. Public parking facilities and park-and-ride lots are located at stations including Iliff, Dayton, Nine Mile, Aurora Metro Center, 2nd and Abilene, 13th Avenue, Peoria, and 40th and Airport–Gateway Park.
