About the event

HYROX Essen 2022 marks a key moment in season 5, hosting up to 2500 participants per day in a dynamic indoor arena. Located in the heart of the Ruhr, an industrial cradle turned cultural hub, this event transforms vast exhibition halls into a theater of intense challenges blending 1 km runs and functional exercises repeated eight times. Essen, with its UNESCO mining heritage, offers a revitalized urban setting where athletes' energy resonates with the region's working-class history. What makes HYROX Essen memorable are the exceptional performances: an absolute world record, two age-group records, and the presence of the sport's biggest names, despite some heated controversies. The electric atmosphere, world championship qualifications, and community spirit make it an unmissable stop on the circuit, where every finish is a shared victory in this repurposed industrial metropolis.
